To say that I am looking forward to Liz and Dan’s wedding is an understatement.
If their engagement session was anything to go by, then this was just the beginning of the fun…a beautiful afternoon spent wandering around the landmarks of St.Kilda, a quick rest stop and chat in the early evening sunshine outside the Espy and a few Jetstar jumps to finish it off down in front of Luna Park.
Throughout the hours I have spent photographing Nicole and Paul, during their engagement session and of course their wedding day, one thing that stood out was the depth of their love and friendship.
On Friday 5th March, they were married in a gorgeous late afternoon ceremony in the St Kilda Botanical Gardens with their reception held later at the stunning Sails on the Bay in Elwood. Everything was picture perfect,
from the dresses, to the mint green Combi used as the wedding car, to the beautiful detail of the flowers hanging in mason jars under the fig tree at the ceremony.
The reception hosted back at Sails felt like one big family gathering. After all of the formalities were out of the way, the crowd had an amazing time on the dance floor…they didn’t stop until the band had to stop! And I’ve gotta say…I’m pretty sure I saw the resurgence of
“The Running Man” as demonstrated by the bride that night
I also had the chance to launch my new favourite toy…the Little Red Photobooth! All you need is a good crowd, a sense of fun and small space to pop the equipment and you’re on your way to having some awesome and funny photos. Click here to see a sample.
Thanks to Nicole and Paul for having me as your wedding photographer. You and your welcoming family were a pleasure to work with….I just wish we could do it all again!
Some of the loveliest weddings I have photographed have been small and intimate. Ilona & Ed’s day is a point in case
You know, if I were ever to go down this road again (except for the fact that I am happily hitched), I would definitely pop this venue at the top of my list. I’ve been both a
guest and a photographer at the Victorian Marriage Registry in the Old Treasury Building, and can say without a doubt, there is no less atmosphere and warmth here than at some of the most beautiful churches and wedding venues around Melbourne.
After the ceremony we headed over to the Fitzroy Gardens for the wedding portraits and then down to Bluestone Restaurant in Flinders Lane for the reception dinner.
Here’s a glimpse of their beautiful day.
